Space ship modeled in Zbrush for a hard surface 3D modeling class final project.
About this
This space ship was created for a hard surface 3d modeling class final. I took much inspiration from the star ships seen in Star Wars when looking for reference for this model. In particular I heavily looked to the Naboo Star fighter that Anakin flies in the movies in order to create the body and style of the ship I modeled.  Combined with the style and shape of that ship, I also wanted to give the ship a weathered and very much used look by looking at worn down metal on airplanes by trying to create the scratches, rust and dirt observed in real life. I went in to paint the rusting color and wear and tear among the over all complementary colors of blue and orange covering the body of the ship, with an attention to detail to create the texture layering both colors and scratches image textures imported into Zbrush. I suppose you can tell I am a big Star Wars fan from this project and all the inspiration I took from the movies' design and to add to that fact I have also paid homage to my favorite character named Ahsoka (from the television Star Wars series The Clone Wars) with this model because in her character design her skin is orange and has blue markings on her head.
About this
I modeled this astronaut cat as an assignment for a 3d Character modeling class in Zbrush. I feel like I see this type of character a lot (a cat astronaut), but I like to think I came up with it first when I was about 8 years old and would draw little comics with this astronaut cat that I used to call "Astro Kitty" and would even use it for my online accounts as a child. In order to fulfill my childhood dreams I decided to finally model this character in 3d. For references I looked up retro atomic imaginings of what people thought space travel would look like in the future from the 1950s and 1960s. I really enjoy that retro look and wanted to give my cat character elements of that style. References of that style on my cat include the tube enclosures around the knees, ankles, shoulders, writes and neck of the space suit, the globe like bowl of a helmet with its attached antenna and the blue/grey color scheme (the color scheme I saw reoccur in the vintage drawings). For the cat its self I looked at my own cat and drawings of cats Disney (In particular Figaro the cat) has cultivated for reference.
